Spicy Sausage and Peppers Sandwiches

These easy-to-make sandwiches feature sautéed Italian sausage, onion and green pepper in a spicy jarred Italian sauce. So tasty, and on the table in just 35 minutes!

    tablespoon olive oil

    pound sweet Italian pork sausages, cut into 1-inch pieces

  • 1

    small green pepper, cut into 2-inch-long strips (about 1 cup)

    large onion, cut in half and sliced (about 1 cup)

  • 1/2

    teaspoon kosher salt

  • 1/4

    teaspoon black pepper

  • 2

    clove garlic, minced

  • 1

    jar (24 ounces) Prego® Spicy Sausage Meat Sauce

    long hard rolls

  • 2

    teaspoon parmigiano-reggiano cheese

      Heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat.  Add the sausage and cook for 5 minutes or until well browned, stirring occasionally.  Pour off any fat.

      Add the green pepper, onion and salt and black pepper to the skillet and cook for 2 minutes or until the vegetables are tender-crisp, stirring occasionally.  Add the garlic and cook and stir for 30 seconds.

      Stir in the sauce.  Reduce the heat to medium-low.  Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the sausage is cooked through.  Divide the sausage mixture among the rolls and sprinkle with the cheese.
