It is important to satisfy all your senses while creating an environment to relax, reduce tension and open ourselves to romance. Here are some tips on how to start out right…
- Tidy up! There's nothing less romantic than a dirty house. If you don't have the time, hire someone. It's worth it!
- Dim the lights and light candles—it never fails.
- It has to be just the two of you. If you have kids, get a babysitter. If you have a dog, call a dog walker, family member or doggy spa to help you get some true time alone.
- Get dressed up! It's a special night…
- Create a nice, flirty invitation and have it sent to your partner's place of work, or, hide it in a place you know he or she will find it.
- Background music is crucial! Pick out a few favorites, maybe even one that includes music from your wedding or another special moment from your relationship.
- Beeps, buzzes and newscasts ARE NOT romantic. Turn off the TV, computers and cell phones.
- If you have a fireplace, by all means, use it.
