Don't let a stray cereal bowl spoil the mood. Take a few minutes to clear off some counter space and make sure you've got all your ingredients and kitchen equipment ready. While you're at it, put on some soothing tunes, open a bottle of wine and dim the lights a little.
Split duties ahead of time so you'll be able to enjoy each other's company without getting in each other's way. You might put together the main dish while your partner whips up the salad and dessert. Or, assign your mate sous chef duty — chopping, measuring and prepping the ingredients as you cook.
As you work together, you might be having so much fun, that you decide to add a last-minute appetizer to the menu. Or, you might prefer to just go right to the main course first so you can really savor the meal. Either way, the only requirement is that you enjoy yourselves. And leave the dishes for tomorrow!
